We’re going to go through this guide without spoiling any major story elements, however, there are certain mission names that might give things away depending on how much you know.

Fallout 4 faction main quest

During ‘Institutionalized’, you’re forced to make a choice that drastically alters the course of the game’s story. It’s worth noting that picking any of the factions also unlocks Radiant quests, a faction-specific quest that gives you randomized targets and locations to travel to. We won’t include those quests in our guide, instead we’ll focus on the missions that progress the main story.

If you’re looking to complete as many missions as possible, opt for the Brotherhood of Steel quest chain first. Otherwise, save right before you make your decision in ‘Institutionalized’ and play through each save to see where the story goes.

Every Fallout 4 side mission

Unlike the main quests, you may not have access to some side quests unless you perform certain actions first. For example, the ‘Banished from the Institute’ side quest only becomes available if you burn all of your bridges with the faction first. This typically involves killing a high ranking member of the faction, or betraying the faction in a main quest.
