Grind Ooze
Grind is a Black Ops 3 map that makes a long-awaited return in BO6. This time around, thanks to the TMNT event, it’s plastered with pictures of the turtle heroes and colorful graffiti.
Whip out your skateboard melee weapon and take out the enemy in the tight spaces of the full pipe and the indoor area, or go for longer-range combat across the wide-open spaces.
Bullet
Of the two spectacular maps added during Season 2 Reloaded, Bullet might just be the most incredible. In fact, Bullet might be the most chaotic map we’ve ever seen. This brand-new small map puts you on a bullet train. A moving, high-speed bullet train. To make the most of this map, make your way onto the roof of the train, and you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of an action movie.
Hacienda
Core 6v6
Another remaster, Hacienda places the action in the middle of a lush estate, complete with lovely views of the surrounding vineyards. An oval-shaped map, you’ll likely be playing vertically, with some ample opportunities for quick cuts across the map to out-flank your opponents.
Racket
2v2 6v6 Strike
Racket is a small map that takes place inside a bank vault. It’s a big bank vault, mind, but you’ll still feel your enemy’s breath down on the back of your neck wherever you are in this Strike map. Check your corners, make sure nobody is behind you, and you’ll be alright.
Nuketown
Core 6v6 Nuketown 24/7
A classic returns! The original 50s-inspired Nuketown multiplayer map is back in Black Ops 6, and it looks as good as ever. This straightforward map is almost mirrored on either side of the (fake) suburban street, with houses providing vantage points for snipers, while everyone else is in close-combat fights on the street below. Nuketown often changes with the season, and a new festive version will be available to play once the Reloaded update hits.
Babylon
Core 6v6 Kill Order
Throughout Babylon you’ll battle through an ancient city and its ruins, using partially destroyed columns for elevation, or crawling through holes beneath what once was a palace. Verticality is widely on offer, so use it to your advantage to get an early eye on the enemy. To conceal yourself more, use the chapel or depot. If you’re feeling brave though, rush the center of the map for some heated action.
Derelict
Core 6v6 Kill Order
Derelict is located deep within the Appalachian Mountains, and is littered with the corpses of trains. It’s long been abandoned, meaning there are plenty of forgotten areas to conceal yourself in.
Rewind
Core 6v6 Kill Order
Another of the Core 6v6 maps, Rewind is situated within the Liberty Shopping Plaza, right by Liberty Falls in West Virginia. A traditional American strip mall, Rewind has a unique layout which sees its two outer lanes connected by a plethora of different possible routes through and around its stores. There’s a video store in the middle that will be the home to most of Rewind’s major objectives, and is bound to be a hotspot for activity.
Scud
Core 6v6 Kill Order
Scud is located within a desert’s military outpost following a huge and devastating attack. There’s a heavily damaged radar dish, and the nearby buildings have taken a battering, too. The air is thick with smoke, affecting visibility. You can safely hunker down in the depot or headquarters, or choose to use the trenches to your advantage to flank enemies. There will be snipers near the radar dish as its base provides an almost 360-degree view.
Skyline
Core 6v6 Kill Order
The Skyline is a luxury resort with astoundingly beautiful views from its rooftop. Located within the countryside, Skyline has a vast penthouse with lounge, kitchen, gym, and pool. There’s a panic room below the penthouse, of course, which you can use to dart across the map, covering huge area with less potential of being seen in the open.
Warhead
Face Off Gunfight Custom 6v6
As if the Nuketown map itself wasn’t enough, Warhead provides even more nostalgic Nuketown goodness. This tiny Nuketown-esque map featuring the “spilled and partial construction of a future Nuketown test site” that have been “dumped into the desert”.
It’s small, it’s fast, and that’s why it only appears in certain modes. Expect vintage vehicles to blow up, tight spots for close combat, and even a few vantage points for snipers, if that’s how you want to play things – but we recommend getting up close and personal here.
Combine this with Nuketown and Area 99, the new Warzone map coming to the game with Season One, and Nuketown fans are eating good in Black Ops 6.
Gala
Face Off Gunfight
Strike maps are smaller-than-usual maps that can appear in 6v6 or 2v2 modes, and the first of those is Gala, which sees you dropping in to the aftermath of an annual fundraising event in Washington, D.C You can choose to utilize the stage to your advantage, or hide in the corners of the lounge. Around the sides of the map, there’s a makeshift bar, coatroom, and campaign stand to use as cover. This map is tiny, and every move counts, so plan your next move wisely.
Pit
Face Off Gunfight
The Pit is a subsection of an underground mining tunnel and again leaves a lot to be desired in terms of available space. You can use the tunnels or the central, more open cave for combat, although the only light to be found here comes from an open ventilation shaft. You can find a vantage point overhead by using the ladders scattered around, or if you prefer to stay grounded, use the mine carts for cover.
Stakeout
Face Off Gunfight
In Stakeout, the Mediterranean region of Avalon has been compromised by Operators, and you’ll need to fight your way through the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms before making your way to the balcony. Surveillance equipment that has been abandoned here will give an indicator of the progress of intel gathering, while a broken-down wall gives an additional cover area.
Protocol
Training map
Protocol is where you’ll get to grips with the new systems in Black Ops 6, including Omnimovement. If this is your first time in any Call of Duty game, head to Protocol to get hands on with Operators, get used to the game, and let off a few practice shots. Of course, Frank Woods will be there to talk you through it all in curated training missions, too. Thanks, Frank.
The dev team wants to cater to all levels of players, creating classic three-lane maps that can accommodate a natural flow of battle, serving an exciting experience for new players and hardened veterans alike.
If you complete the campaign before jumping into multiplayer, you should already have a feel for some of these locations, reducing the potentially frustrating onboarding that can occur when trying to learn a new space. Couple this with the familiarity with the new Black Ops 6 equipment, and you should be good to go once you complete the story.
As you work your way up the ranks, familiarize yourself with the Black Ops 6 prestige system and the best BO6 weapons to take into these varied maps. If you want more details on the Black Ops 6 modes you’ll be playing here, we’ve got those too.
